Yoga and Relaxation:

The relaxation yoga techniques are based on the tradition of the classical yoga of India.

Are a practical discipline for day to day routine, as we have learned at the Kaivalyadhama Institute.

The relaxation techniques based on yoga are highly effective and at a very low cost.

The person can learn how to dissolve the daily stress by himself.

Some of the most common yoguic relaxation exercises are:

1. FACING - UP RESTING POSTURE "SHAVASANA"

We start from "supine decubito", lying on our back, with legs slightly open, relaxed and separated (not too much, 50 cm is enough), the arms separated of the body (a little), the hands rest on the floor with the palms up. The body rests in a natural and comfortable way on the floor. We observe that there is no part that pressurizes more than other. The mental image of  "floating" on the water could help us, as well as maintaining the symmetric references of a line that divides the body in two equal parts, without leaning the head, which would originate tension in the neck.

It is convenient to do shavasana at the beginning and at the end of a session of asanas, and after each exercise if needed.

2. FACING DOWN RESTING POSTURE "MAKARASANA"

We start out with the position of "prone decubito", facing down and  looking at the floor, with legs spread out relaxed and feet separated facing outwards, arms folded under the forehead. The abdomen rests in a natural and comfortable way against the floor. We observed that there is no part that pressurizes more than other. It will facilitate the execution to maintain the corporal symmetric pose, without leaning the head, in order to avoid tension in the neck. It is recommended to keep the attention in the breathing.

One could do makarasana at the beginning and at the end of an asanas session and after each exercise done in "prone decubito".
